CURRICULUM
· Activities to increase muscular strength and flexibility: upper body exercises, lower body exercises, core exercises, scooter boards, climbing the long rope and cargo net, stretching, dynamic warm up, yoga.
· Fitness and agility: obstacle course, fitness trail, agility ladder, Jump Rope for Heart, sledding (group sled pull), fitness stations, fitness testing (grades 3-5).
· Activities to increase teamwork, problem solving, and cooperation: project adventure low elements (zip line, horizontal cargo net), team games, group challenges, parachute, Capture the Flag.
· Rhythm and Dance: hip hop dancing, party dances (e.g. Cha Cha Slide, Chicken Dance, Cotton Eye Joe etc.) creating dances, jump rope, juggling, Dance Dance Revolution, dance stations.
Health and Wellness: heart rate monitors, pedometers, nutrition, basic fitness and recovery concepts, muscle groups, bones, hygiene.
· Manipulative Skills: throwing, catching, striking, kicking, rolling, stations and games to increase manipulative skills, activities to increase bilateral coordination (e.g. juggling, cup stacking).
· Team games (including lead up games and individual skills): basketball, floor hockey or pillo polo, volleyball, soccer, wiffle ball, flag football lead up games, lacrosse.
· Recreational Games: volleyball, badminton/speedminton, Ladder Ball, bowling, Baggo, target games, mini golf, Frisbee, kick ball.
· Locomotor Skills: running, skipping, galloping, hopping, jumping and landing, and chasing, fleeing, dodging.
· Group Games and Holiday Games: Large group games such as Capture the Flag, Bean Bag Toe Tag, Mass Pass, Structure Game, Scooter Egg Hunt, Grinch Game, Leprechaun Game etc.
